What is Elsa’s Role In The Frozen Movies?
Elsa is one of the main characters in Frozen, alongside her sister Princess Anna. Elsa is the eldest of the two sisters and she also has a secret, she wields powerful ice magic that she doesn’t know how to control because she was always told to conceal it.
Due to an unfortunate accident that happens when Elsa and Anna are kids, she has to hide her magic from everyone, including her own sister.
This leads Elsa to becoming isolated and developing a certain anxious persona and a lot of self doubt. Eventually, leading to her accidently freezing Arendelle and running way to the North Mountain.
Throughout the first Frozen movie, we see Elsa slowly come out of her bubble and embrace her magic powers. At the end of the movie she learns it’s not isolation, fear, and concealing that is the answer, but love that will help her control her magic.
In the second movie, we see Queen Elsa dealing with hearing enchanted voices, luring her to the Enchanted forest with her loved ones. The enchanted forest is covered under a shroud that prevents others from leaving and others from entering, since the fighting that happened years ago between Arendelle and Northuldra.
However, Elsa for some reason is granted passage with her friends and family. Along the way she meets the Northuldra and Arendellian soldiers, and the other spirits of Fire, Water, Earth, and wind, and befriends all of them by the end of the movie.
By the end of the movie, the wrong that was committed years ago by Arendelle’s previous king (Elsa and Anna’s grandfather,) is corrected by the Frozen family. Elsa also learns she is the fifth spirit, thus, she accepts her position as such and chooses to give up her title of queen of Arendelle to Anna, who she feels was a better fit all along.
This act unites Northulda and Arendelle. The kingdom finds peace and harmony is restored to the surroundings lands with the Snow Queen Elsa keeping watch with her fellow spirits and Queen Anna taking care of Arendelle.
